St Anne's School Inspires Community Pride in Willenhall
St Anne's School Partnership Helps Inspire a Cleaner Willenhall
Why we're doing this
Keeping our neighbourhoods clean and safe matters to everyone at Citizen. Last year, our bulk waste team dealt with more than 10,000 fly-tipping and bulky waste jobs across the Midlands.
To help create lasting change, we're working with St Anne's Catholic Primary School and Coventry City Council to encourage community pride and tackle fly-tipping in Willenhall.
As part of our Tidy Friday community clean-up initiative, pupils designed posters encouraging people to keep Willenhall litter-free.
What we did
We launched a poster competition with pupils at St Anne's, inviting them to create designs that promote keeping our neighbourhoods clean and discourage fly-tipping.
The response was fantastic, with pupils producing creative and inspiring artwork highlighting the importance of looking after the environment and taking pride in where we live.
A judging panel made up of representatives selected the winning entries, and prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
On 29 June, we attended a special school assembly to celebrate the competition, meet the pupils and present the winners with their prizes.
A lasting legacy
We're delighted that the winning poster will now be displayed on bins provided by Coventry City Council and distributed across Willenhall, helping to spread an important message throughout the community.
The project forms part of a wider partnership between Citizen and Coventry City Council, which includes improving bin storage, strengthening enforcement, installing cameras and working together to tackle fly-tipping hotspots.
Thank you, St Anne's
A huge thank you to all the pupils and staff at St Anne's Catholic Primary School for embracing the project with such enthusiasm and creativity.
By working together, we're helping to build community pride, encourage responsible waste disposal and inspire future generations to play their part in keeping Willenhall clean, safe and welcoming for everyone.
Congratulations to our winners!
Pupils were recognised for their creativity and efforts, with cash prizes awarded to the top three entries:
🥇 1st Place – Chloe (£50)
🥈 2nd Place – Amelia (£25)
🥉 3rd Place – Anando (£15)
In addition, St Anne's Catholic Primary School received £150 in recognition of the pupils' fantastic participation and support for the initiative.
A huge congratulations to all of our winners and everyone who took part. Their posters are helping to spread an important message about keeping Willenhall clean and litter-free.
A Message from St Anne's Catholic Primary School
"A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Citizen for giving our children the opportunity to be part of this wonderful collaboration. Creating posters to encourage our community to keep Willenhall tidy has inspired them to take pride in their local area and shown them that even small actions can make a big difference. We are grateful for the chance to help build a cleaner, greener Willenhall together."
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the pupils, staff and families at St Anne's for their enthusiasm, creativity and support. This partnership has shown the positive impact that can be achieved when schools, local authorities and community organisations work together to create cleaner, safer neighbourhoods for everyone.
