Are you ready to make a difference in your community? The Citizen Local Fund is here, and we want to see your amazing projects! Applications are open now, and you can submit yours through our Citizen Housing Website . But don’t wait—applications close at 5pm on 23rd May 2025.

We’re excited to see the incredible ideas you’ll bring forward! Whether it’s a new community event, a wellbeing initiative, or something that brings people together, we want to hear about it! To help you with your application, we’ve added some helpful videos on the website.

No experience applying for funding? No problem! These resources are here to guide you every step of the way.

About the Citizen Local Fund

The Citizen Local Fund offers £50,000 in funding for local groups and projects in areas where Citizen owns properties. There will be two rounds of funding each year. Our aim is to help residents and communities flourish by supporting initiatives that:

๐Ÿ‹๏ธ‍โ™€๏ธ Promote mental and physical wellbeing
๐Ÿค Reduce social isolation
๐Ÿ˜๏ธ Bring communities together
๐ŸŒณ Improve local areas

You can apply for up to £3,000 for projects that meet these criteria. Applying is simple – just follow the steps!

How to Apply

Applications for the Citizen Local Fund will open on 7th April. Any forms submitted before that date will not be accepted. Once applications are open, you can apply online through our Citizen Housing Website

Eligibility

To be eligible, your project must be located in an area where Citizen has properties. Please refer to the map on the right to check if your project qualifies. ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

What We Fund

We’re looking for projects that make a positive difference in at least one of the following areas:

๐Ÿง  Improving physical health and mental wellbeing (e.g., exercise classes, wellbeing workshops, food poverty initiatives)
โ˜• Reducing social isolation and loneliness (e.g., coffee mornings, friendship groups, educational classes)
๐Ÿค— Supporting community togetherness (e.g., community events, activities that bring people together)
๐ŸŒ Enhancing local areas (e.g., gardening projects, environmental improvements, safer neighbourhood initiatives)

Important Information about the Citizen Local Fund

We will not fund profit making businesses.

  • We will not provide funding to pay salaries.
  • All projects need to benefit Citizen customers and communities. ‘Citizen’ relates to the housing association. If your project falls outside of areas we operate in (across the West Midlands) your application will not be considered
  • Projects must promote at least one of the following: improving mental and physical wellbeing, reducing social isolation, bringing communities together and enhancing local areas.
  • Once funds have been allocated you will be required to update us with the progress of your project and spending
