Even the Smallest Feedback Can Make a Difference π
While visiting Hagard Community Centre in Willenhall, Coventry, our Engagement Team had a great chat with a customer about getting involved and shaping services.
They suggested something simple: putting a poster outside to let others know we were there. We loved the ideaβand acted on it!
Now, weβre making sure posters are clearly visible at all our events. A small suggestion, but one that can make a big impact.
As a customer, you can make your voice heard. click here:πJoin the conversation, share your feedback
There are lots of ways to get involved! Just register and weβll keep you updated with surveys, invites to focus groups, and more.
Got a suggestion? Weβd love to hear it! Email us at engagement@citizenhousing.org.uk

π€Visiting Our Lady of the Assumption Foodbank
On 15th April, the Engagement Team visited the Our Lady of the Assumption Foodbank in Tile Hill. We visit this foodbank regularly and aim to go at least once every six weeks. π This helps us make sure we meet different customers each time we visit.
Today, I had the great opportunity to meet one of our customers. She had never been before and just wanted to speak to someone face to face. π¬ This pop-up gave her the perfect chance to do that.
At our visits, we make sure customers have the chance to sit down, have a chat β, and feel listened to. Itβs not just about offering support β we also talk about engagement, and how customers can get involved in shaping our services.
We have lots of brilliant ways for you to share your feedback π£οΈ about the things that matter most to you. Whether it's in person, online π», or through events like this β we want to hear from you!

Oasis Warndon Community Hub- Worcester
On 7th April, the engagement team attended the Oasis Warndon Community Hub in Worcester. This event gave our customers a chance to connect with us and learn about ways to get involved in their community. Many expressed a desire for us to visit the area more often, as it helps them feel more connected and supported.
We had valuable conversations, discussing the wide range of support services available and learning more about the unique needs of the community. The Oasis Warndon Hub plays an essential role, offering advice, guidance, and signposting to additional services. The hub serves as an important resource for everyone involved, and the opportunity to collaborate with local residents and hear their feedback was incredibly rewarding.
We are committed to continuing this connection and look forward to returning to build strong, lasting relationships with our customers in this welcoming community.

Engagement Team at Hagard Community Space
On the 26th of March, the Engagement Team visited the Hagard Community Space at Willenhall Food Hub. This was a fantastic opportunity for us to connect directly with our customers and offer the support they need in person. We were able to meet many people from the local area and have real, face-to-face conversations with them. π π€During the event, we answered a variety of queries from our customers, discussing how they could get more involved with our services and what opportunities were available. We also took the time to explain our Citizen Local Fund, which helps support people in the community. Many customers were interested in learning more about how they could benefit from it. If you would like to know more about the Citizen Local Fund, please click on the link. π Citizen Local Fund
One customer shared that they were really happy to see us because they donβt use online services, and they felt much more comfortable getting help in person. This was a great reminder of how important it is to reach out to our customers in different ways, especially for those who may find online services difficult to use.π¬
Events like these are a wonderful way for us to engage with the community, understand the needs of our customers, and make sure they know weβre here to support them.π

Tiny Forest
On Friday, 21st March, we had the pleasure of joining our customers and the local community at Longfield House in Coventry for the Tree Planting event as part of the Tiny Forest project π±. This initiative has been a journey for us, from the early consultations to finally planting the trees, and it was wonderful to see everything come together π³. While the weather wasnβt perfect, we were lucky it stayed dry for the day! The event was about more than just planting treesβit was an opportunity to bring everyone together and make a lasting impact on our environment π. Our customers, along with children from the local primary school, joined us in planting the trees π³. It was great to see so many people roll up their sleeves and contribute to a project that will benefit the environment for years to come π±.
During the day, we also had the chance to speak with our customers about the many great opportunities to shape our service π¬. It was a perfect chance for everyone to use their voices and share their ideas, helping us to improve and evolve the way we work. We believe that by listening to your feedback, we can build a better, more customer-focused service.
This is all part of our ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in the community π. Thanks to the collaboration between Citizen Housing, Coventry City Council, and Earthwatch, weβre proud to be playing our part in creating a greener, cleaner Coventry πΏ. This event is just one of the many steps we're taking to protect and improve our environment, and itβs also a way for us to engage with the community and build stronger connections .
Weβre excited to continue working together towards a more sustainable future π, and we look forward to sharing more community-focused initiatives with you in the future! π

Hereford Oak Road Neighbourhood walkabout
On Friday 14th March, Vicki and Jamie from the Engagement Team visited Hereford! We had the chance to work alongside the local Neighbourhood Officer and help with tenancy management checks. We also joined them for a neighbourhood walkabout with local residents to get a better feel for the area. This gave us some really valuable insights into the challenges faced by the community and helped with the neighbourhood plan. π
While we were there, we got to chat with local residents and hear about all the amazing things happening in the community. π A few customers raised concerns, especially about a park closure. The Engagement Team made sure they had a space to share their thoughts and ideas. It's so important for us to encourage our customers to speak up and help shape the services we offer. π£οΈπ¬
The feedback we gathered will be really helpful for the Neighbourhood Officerβs neighbourhood plan, too! This visit was a great reminder of how we all work together to listen, support, and encourage our customers. π€
And donβt worry, this wonβt be our last visit to Hereford! Weβre excited to keep working with local Neighbourhood Officers, who really understand how our customers want to engage. Canβt wait for the next trip!

Our Lady of Assumption: Food bank
On the 11th of March, we had the pleasure of visiting the Our Lady of the Assumption Food Bank in Tile Hill.
We've been attending regularly to ensure that our customers are aware of the opportunity to speak with us face-to-face. This has been a fantastic way for us to build stronger connections with the community. π€
During the visit, we spent time engaging with the customers, explaining the many benefits of getting involved and how they can participate in various programs. We were also there to offer support, answering any questions and providing helpful information. π¬
The feedback we've received has been overwhelmingly positive! Many customers, as well as those working within the community, shared that they appreciate having this chance to engage with us directly. Itβs been a great way to build trust and start developing meaningful relationships.
To continue strengthening these connections, weβll be visiting the food bank every six weeks. This will allow us to keep raising awareness and give more opportunities for our customers to meet the Engagement Team in person. Weβre excited to keep working together! π

Tidy Friday
Tidy Friday Manor Farm, Coventry
On the 7th of March, the Engagement Team, in collaboration with Coventry City Council, came together for a day of community action, focusing on making a positive change in the area. We rolled up our sleeves and worked hard to remove bulky items that had been left behind, while also planting a range of beautiful plants and shrubs π³πΈ By clearing a large amount of debris, we not only made the area look much cleaner but also created a more welcoming environment for everyone who lives and works there. This collective effort helped bring the community together and demonstrated our commitment to improving the spaces where we live.
Throughout the event, we had the chance to chat with our customers about engagement and how you can help shape the services we provide π£οΈπ¬.
The feedback we received was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see our Citizen colleagues getting involved in the community.
The positive changes we made were truly impactful, and this event serves as a great example of how, by working together π€, we can create real change
It is important that we at Citizen are out in the community, offering support where it's most needed. Seeing the incredible transformation at Manor Farm was a real highlight, and it was clear that our customers greatly appreciated the opportunity to dispose of their unwanted rubbish, helping to improve the area for everyone. This is exactly the type of community-driven work weβre proud to be a part of. Keep an eye on our Community Events for the next date for our Tidy Friday β weβd love for you to get involved!
π A big thank you to Diane, who kindly provided delicious sandwiches for everyone! Diane runs the Henley Green Grub Hub, a fantastic initiative making a real difference by providing food and support to local residents . Her dedication and hard work are truly inspiring! π

Overview of February Community Events: Connecting with Our Customers
Connecting with our Customers
At Citizen Housing, we are committed to staying connected with our customers in meaningful ways. Recently, we had the opportunity to engage with local communities through two exciting events: one at the Stoke Health Social Supermarket and another at the Headway office in Evesham.
Stoke Health Social Supermarket
We visited the Stoke Health Social Supermarket to meet our customers face-to-face. This supermarket plays a key role in the community, providing essential support to those who need it most. During our visit, we spoke with a customer who shared that she prefers not to engage online and feels more comfortable with phone calls. This conversation reminded us of the importance of offering different ways for customers to provide feedback, ensuring everyone can communicate in the way that works best for them.
Holbrooks Social Supermarket: Engaging with Customers
For the past three months, the Engagement team has been regularly visiting the Holbrooks Social Supermarket to connect with customers face-to-face. Our aim is to ensure inclusivity and give people the chance to share their concerns directly with us.
During one visit, we met Jan, a customer who was initially nervous about joining a focus group. After explaining the process and how her feedback would help improve services, Jan felt more confident and agreed to participate. She was excited to meet new people and contribute, highlighting how we can build customers' confidence and involve them in shaping services.
This experience shows the importance of creating a welcoming space where customers feel heard and included.
Engagement Event in Evesham
We organised an event at the Headway office in Evesham, alongside John, the Neighbourhood Officer. Our aim was to connect with customers in this area, making sure we are visible and accessible to all. During the event, customers had the chance to meet us and discuss their needs. We were also joined by teams from Advice Services, Housing, Supported Housing, and Domestic Abuse, who were there to offer additional support. Despite some bad weather, the event was a success, and we received valuable feedback from customers. We were able to answer questions, listen to concerns, and offer help where needed. Many customers appreciated the opportunity to speak to us directly. It was a great chance to show our commitment to supporting the community. We look forward to returning to Evesham in the future to continue building trust and providing support.
Tiny Forests Initiative: Bell Green Event
In addition to these events, we are also excited about our involvement in the Tiny Forests initiative. This project is a partnership between Citizen Housing, Earthwatch Europe, and Coventry City Council. The aim is to plant Tiny Forests in six locations across Coventry, helping to create a greener and cleaner environment.
On 4th February 2025, we hosted a successful event at Bell Green at LongField House. The community came together, and there was great excitement about the project. We're proud to be part of this initiative and are looking forward to planting trees at all six sites. This is just one of the many ways we are working to improve the local environment and engage with our communities.
We remain committed to connecting with our customers and making a positive impact on the local area.

Why Our Face-to-Face Pop-Ups Matterπ‘
Since November, our Engagement Team has taken part in over 33 pop-ups in local communities. But what do we mean by a "pop-up"?
A pop-up is when we visit a place where something is already happening in your area — like a foodbank, social supermarket, or local group. It’s a chance for us to speak to customers face-to-face, listen to what matters to you, and share useful information.
The feedback we’ve had has been fantastic!
At these pop-ups, we’ve spoken with over 126 customers. We've had great conversations about our services, and many people have signed up to our Citizen Together Hub.
We're committed to being out in the community, making it easier for you to speak to us in person. It’s another way for you to ask questions, raise concerns, and get support.
At one of our recent pop-ups, we even helped a customer join our focus groups. They now take part regularly and are helping to shape the services we offer.
These pop-ups help us reach people we might not connect with otherwise — and they give you a chance to get involved and have your say.
π Would you like to suggest a place where we should pop up next?
We’d love to hear from you! Please fill out this quick survey and let us know where you’d like to see our Engagement Team: π Community Events- Have your say!π
We’re really proud of what’s been achieved so far, and we’re looking forward to meeting even more of you out in the community soon!
